My TBR Through the Zodiac 2024-25
Updated: Apr 6
Welcome to my picks as I continue my reading journey through the astrological New Year.
Let's get into my Zodiac TBR
Like many of you, I imagine, I have a reading list that is wildly out of control. I've been guilty of scrolling through my kindle backlog in the same way I scroll through Netflix trying to find something to watch.
It's not that there's nothing, it's that there's so much choice I can't make a decision!
So this year, I've set myself a little challenge to pick out a book for each of the zodiac signs for me to read this year and create my own Zodiac TBR.
Aries Season - Warrior Energy
I am fully and acutely aware that I've been putting off the "Massverse" for way too long now. This was on my reading list for last year and then Fourth Wing happened and I fell down that rabbit hole!
"In a land without magic, an assassin is summoned to the castle. Celaena Sardothien has no love for the vicious king who rules from his throne of glass, but she has not come to kill him. She has come to win her freedom. If she defeats twenty-three murderers, thieves, and warriors in a deadly competition, she will be released from prison to serve as the King's Champion."
If that isn't giving Warrior vibes I don't know what does! I also don't doubt that there is a rabbit hole awaiting me at the end of this book... what are we at now 15 books and counting!!
Taurus Season - Comfort Energy
The game has just begun.
As we land in Taurus energy, comfort reading is the only way to go. What better way to find comfort than in a world you already know? I read Caraval last year and loved it, and I can't wait to step back into this story.
"After being swept up in the magical world of Caraval, Donatella Dragna has finally escaped her father and saved her sister Scarlett from a disastrous arranged marriage. The girls should be celebrating, but Tella isn't yet free. She made a desperate bargain with a mysterious criminal, and what Tella owes him no one has ever been able to deliver: Caraval Master Legend's true name."
The real question is do I stop here for a while or run straight into the last book in the trilogy, Finale.
Gemini Season - Curious Energy
There will be magic. There will be murder.
Moving into Gemini season brings us a little extra curiosity. So I'm going to dive into a magical mystery story to satisfy the forever curious Gemini mind.
"For a thousand years, Concordia has maintained peace between its provinces. To mark this incredible feat, the emperor's ship embarks upon a twelve-day voyage to the sacred Goddess's Mountain. Aboard are the twelve heirs of the provinces of Concordia, each graced with a unique and secret magical ability known as a Blessing. All except one: Ganymedes Piscero – class clown, slacker, and all-round disappointment. When a beloved heir is murdered, everyone is a suspect. Stuck at sea and surrounded by powerful people and without a Blessing to protect him , Ganymedes's odds of survival are slim."
Cancer Season - Mother Energy
Cancer season is ruled by the moon and puts us firmly into our emotions and the mother energy. So, I've picked a biography to read for this month.
"In June 2021, the whole world was listening as Britney Spears spoke in open court. The impact of sharing her voice—her truth—was undeniable, and it changed the course of her life and the lives of countless others. The Woman in Me reveals for the first time her incredible journey—and the strength at the core of one of the greatest performers in pop music history. Written with remarkable candour and humour, Spears’s ground-breaking book illuminates the enduring power of music and love—and the importance of a woman telling her own story, on her own terms, at last."
Leo Energy - Main Character Energy
Main character energy is the main theme of Leo, and I've seen the films but never read the books... so Tris is going to take on this years main character title.
"For sixteen-year-old Tris, the world changes in a heartbeat when she is forced to make a terrible choice. Turning her back on her family, Tris ventures out, alone, determined to find out where she truly belongs. Shocked by the brutality of her new life, Tris can trust no one. And yet she is drawn to a boy who seems to both threaten and protect her. The hardest choices may yet lie ahead…."
This is another one that might take up some time as I doubt I'll want to wait to read the rest of the series!
Virgo Energy - Priestess Energy
Virgo energy needed Queen or Priestess vibes, and I read Red Queen recently and loved it so much. Mare is this years official Priestess in my reads!
"If there's one thing Mare Barrow knows, it's that she's different. Mare's blood is Red - the colour of common folk - but her Silver blood ability, the power to control lightning, has turned her into a weapon that the royal court is desperate to control over all else. Pursued by the vengeful Silver king, Mare sets out to find and recruit other defectors to join the rebellion. But she is soon led down a deadly path, at risk of becoming exactly the kind of monster she is trying so hard to defeat."
Shockingly, there's more in this series that I might have to dive into!
Libra - Romantic Energy
Never make a deal with a fate...
There's only one way to get me to read romance... and that's when you layer it with fantasy and fairy tales. Libra season is all about romance and relationships and I've already fallen in love with Stephanie's writing.
"For as long as she can remember, Evangeline Fox has believed in happily ever after. Until she learns that the love of her life is about to marry another, and her dreams are shattered. Desperate to stop the wedding, and heal her wounded heart, Evangeline strikes a deal with the charismatic, but wicked, Prince of Hearts. In exchange for his help, he asks for three kisses, to be given at the time and place of his choosing. But after Evangeline's first promised kiss, she learns that bargaining with an immortal is a dangerous game - and that the Prince of Hearts wants far more from her than she pledged. He has plans for Evangeline, plans that will either end in the greatest happily ever after, or the most exquisite tragedy . . ."
At this point, I'm concerned about the can of worms I've opened with how many series I got going on!!
Scorpio Season - Spooky Energy
I know... I know. I was a little bit disappointed that they didn't continue to turn these into films so I read Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children and plan on continuing the series.
"As our story opens, a horrific family tragedy sets sixteen-year-old Jacob journeying to a remote island off the coast of Wales, where he discovers the crumbling ruins of Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children. As Jacob explores its abandoned bedrooms and hallways, it becomes clear that the children were more than just peculiar. They may have been dangerous. They may have been quarantined on a deserted island for good reason. And somehow—impossible though it seems—they may still be alive. A spine-tingling fantasy illustrated with haunting vintage photography, Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children will delight adults, teens, and anyone who relishes an adventure in the shadows."
Sagittarius - Wanderer Energy
Wandering into some fairy tales for Sagittarius season. I've seen this one recommended over and over so it's time to try it out.
"James has always had one agenda: destroy his enemy, Peter Michaels. When Peter’s twenty-year-old daughter Wendy shows up in James’s bar, he sees his way in. Seduce the girl and use her for his revenge. It’s the perfect plan, until things in James’s organization begin to crumble. Suddenly, he has to find the traitor in his midst, and his plan for revenge gets murkier as James starts to see Wendy as more than just a pawn in his game. Wendy has been cloistered away most of her life by her wealthy cold father, but a spontaneous night out with friends turns into an intense and addictive love affair with the dark and brooding James. As much as she knows James is dangerous, Wendy can’t seem to shake her desire for him. But as their relationship grows more heated and she learns more about the world he moves in, she finds herself unsure if she’s falling for the man known as James or the monster known as Hook."
Capricorn - Ambition Energy
When you can't beat the odds, change the game.
I wasn't in love with Six of Crows, but I'm willing to give the sequel a go especially as it gives off ambition vibes for Capricorn season.
"Kaz Brekker and his crew of deadly outcasts have just pulled off a heist so daring even they didn't think they'd survive. But instead of divvying up a fat reward, they're right back to fighting for their lives. Double-crossed and badly weakened, the crew is low on resources, allies, and hope. As powerful forces from around the world descend on Ketterdam to root out the secrets of the dangerous drug known as jurda parem, old rivals and new enemies emerge to challenge Kaz's cunning and test the team's fragile loyalties. A war will be waged on the city's dark and twisting streets - a battle for revenge and redemption that will decide the fate of the Grisha world."
Aquarius Energy - Eccentic Energy
Aquarius and astrology go so well together and that eccentric energy makes Aquarius so much fun. Let's dive into the Zodiac Academy!
"’m a Gemini. Impulsive. Curious. Headstrong. A twin. Heir to a throne I know nothing about. And it turns out, I’m Fae. But of course there’s a catch - all I have to do to claim my birth right is prove that I’m the most powerful supernatural in the whole of Solaria. And sure, technically that’s true as I’m the daughter of the Savage King. But the bit they didn’t put in the brochure was that every single Fae in this Kingdom would claim my throne if they could."
Clearly... I have a problem with starting multiple series before I'm finished with others!
Pisces Energy - Mystical Energy
Pisces energy always makes me think of the ocean, so a watery themed book felt appropriate for the last book on this list.
"Emory is returning to the prestigious Aldryn College for Lunar Magic for one reason: to uncover the secrets behind the night that left her best friend, Romie, and seven other students dead. But Emory has plenty of secrets herself, not least that her healing abilities have been corrupted by a strange, impossible magic, granting her power no one should possess. Turning to the only person she believes she can trust, Emory enlists the help of Romie’s brother Baz – someone already well-versed in the dangers of his own dark Eclipse magic. But when the supposedly drowned students start washing ashore – alive – only for them each immediately to die horrible, magical deaths, Emory and Baz are no longer the only ones seeking answers. There's a hidden society at the heart of the school, and they’re attracted to nothing more than they are to power..."
How many of these have you read, and which are you adding to your TBR this year? I'll be sharing my progress and updates here on the blog and on social media too!
Stay magical
